Workers Union appeals to President Buhari to ascent to the bill of $1b from Excess Crude Account for Ajaokuta Steel

The Chairman of Iron and Steel Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, (ISSSAN) Comrade Nuhu Salawu has Felicitated with the workers of the company on the occasion of New year 2019 celebrations,

 

In a new year message, personally signed  by the chairman, he highlighted the numerous advantages of a functional Steel Company to Nigeria and its citizens and called for its speedy completion. .

He appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to ascent to the fund approved by the National Assembly for the completion and commercial operation of the ailing Steel plant.

 

The statement which reads in part said “On behalf of Iron & Steel Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, I say a happy new year to all members, Management and staff of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited and indeed the entire Nigerians on the occasion of new celebrations.

” I want to use this occasion to appeal to the Federal Executive chaired by Mr President to kindly ascent to the bill of $1b from Excess Crude Account approved by National Assembly to rehabilitate and complete the only integrated and the largest steel company in the entire Africa as a continent which can solve the problems of unemployment in our country

 

According to him, the company was was capable of generating over 10,000 direct and over 500,000 indirect employment of Engineers, Artisans, Craftsmen, Administrative and Commercial Staff which will generate a lot of revenue for Government at all levels.

“Let me use this medium to condole the entire Steel family for the demise of our founding father his Excellency Alhaji Shehu Shagari, the formal president of our great country Nigeria. I pray God to forgive all his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest. Ameen” The statement added
