World Press Freedom day; Activist tasks govt, stakeholders on safeguarding freedom of press, Free flow of Information

As the world celebrate the world press freedom day, an activist, Idris Miliki Abdul, Executive Director,
Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution, (CHRCR), in Lokoja, kogi State has said that it’s important for all stakeholders, to continue to safeguard freedom of the press and free flow of information.

According to the Activist, a situation where Media practitioners are attacked in line of duty as withnessed recently and in many instances, across the world is unacceptable and condemnable.

He maintained that Journalism is a noble profession, saying that journalists should be able to practice their profession, without any hindrance.

He added that owners of Media institutions should should also take the welfare of journalists seriously.

“We call on journalists not to allow themselves to be intmidated in any way, and to uphold the principle of professionalism at all times.
