Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has called on the people of Kogi West Senatorial District and the entire state to reject individuals with questionable character aiming to gain control of state resources for wasteful luxurious lifestyle.
Governor Bello made the call today in Kabba during the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship Zonal Rally which thousands of party faithful thronged to witness.
While urging the people of Okun extraction to massively troop out and give overwhelming votes to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the November 11th governorship election, the Governor recounted his numerous tactile achievements in the areas of security, education, infrastructural development and health care delivery and dared opposition parties to mention what they have done for the benefit of the people of the state before seeking elective positions.
“I commend the people of Kogi West for being assertive in what they want. They voted massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Senator Sunday Karimi, and I believe in your ability to repeat such a feat for Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman (OAU) and his Deputy, Comrade Joel Oyibo Salifu (JOS) in the November 11 governorship election,” he said.
The Director-General of Kogi State APC Governorship Campaign Council and Honourable Minister for Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Abubakar Audu who intimated the people of Okun extraction said that the forthcoming governorship election would not be about any sectional agenda rather than the development agenda as envisioned by Governor Yahaya Bello, urged the people to embrace Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman who he said has excellent public sector experience to leader a multi-ethnic state like Kogi.
Also calling on the people of Okun extraction to queue behind the APC’s candidate, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward David Onoja who spoke fluently in Yoruba said that APC has killed all forms of ethnic agenda for Kogi Agenda, adding that the Okun people are expected to repeat the wonderful support given to the APC in the previous elections.
Speaking at the occasion, the APC Governorship candidate, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman who expressed excitement to the people of Kogi West for the massive turnout for the rally, recollected that the recent official flag off of the APC Governorship Campaign Activities in Lokoja has permanently sent the disillusioned opposition parties to permanent silence.
He added that the APC was in Kabba to perform the final burial rite of the opposition parties whose candidates he revealed parade moral burden that should not be allowed in corridors of power.
“Having been thoroughly mentored by Governor Yahaya Bello, my government will be that of continuity and consolidation of the legacies of the New Direction administration. That means the newly established Kogi State University, Kabba will be completed to begin full academic activities. The GYB Model Science Secondary School in Kogi West will also recieve utmost attention,” he promised.
Earlier, Kogi State APC chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello applauded the decision of Barrister Dele Bello, the ADC Kogi West Senatorial candidate in the last general election and his teeming supporters to pitch their tent with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election.
Hon. Bello who assured the new decampees of equal treatment in the incoming administration of Alhaji Ododo said the doors are still open to accommodate more supporters.
On his part, the former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Architect Yomi Awoniyi said virtually all Local Government Areas in Kogi West have adopted Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman as their preferred candidate for governorship election. Arch. Awoniyi who recently defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the governing All Progressives Congress said his former party and other opposition parties have been neutralized by the sterling performances of Governor Yahaya Bello as the Executive Governor of Kogi State in the last seven years.
While corroborating Arch. Awoniyi, the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, and Kogi State ALGON Chairman, Hon. Isah Taofiq asked Governor Yahaya Bello, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman and other APC stalwarts to go home and sleep as the entire Kogi West is locked up for the APC.
Hon. Taofiq noted that Governor Yahaya Bello has laboured so much to reform Kogi State, adding that the state cannot at this material point in time be handed over to diasporan politicians with unabated inordinate ambitions.
Other speakers at the Zonal Rally were the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo; State Security Adviser, Hon. Jerry Omodara; Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Umar Aliyu; Secretary to Kogi State Government, Dr Folashade Ayoade Arike and others.
