The people of Ogale/Aduge Ward in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State have been charged to ensure they vote massively for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next month’s gubernatorial election, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman (OAU) and his running mate, Comrade Joel Oyibo Salifu (JOS) for sustainable development.
This followed a campaign tour across Ogale, Aduge and environs led by a stalwart of the APC and ally of the party’s governorship candidate, Comrade Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege (aka Fancy) on Tuesday.
Narrating their ordeal in the past years, the representative of the traditional chief of Ogale, High Chief Kolade Raphael said Ogale/Aduge, a boundary ward between Ijumu and Okehi Local Government Areas has suffered negligence which manifested in deteriorated road network, collapsed cottage hospital and incessant invasion of the community by bandits. He added that despite the obvious difficulty faced by the communities, the people of Ogale/Aduge have always delivered the highest votes for APC in Ijumu LGA.
Chief Kolade revealed further that aside basic infrastructures that are lacking in their communities, Ogale/Aduge, the community is also yet to be recognized in the recent upgrading of traditional stools by Kogi State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
On their parts, APC Ward chairman’s in the area and his Vice, Comrade Jacob Ishamutan and Ajanaku Audu Benjamin respectively assured Comrade Fancy of their decision to deliver 100% votes for Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman (OAU) in the November 11 governorship election.
They also pleaded with the incoming administration of Alhaji Ododo to consider the youths of the ward for political appointment and empowerment.
Speaking on behalf of Fulani community in the Ward, Mallam Usman Bondo said they have enjoyed peaceful coexistence with the Ogale/Aduge courtesy of peaceful disposition of Governor Yahaya Bello to settlers in the state. He promised to mobilse other Fulani herders to massively vote for the APC candidate.
In his response, Comrade Fancy noted that Alhaji Ododo is fully aware of the plights of the communities and specifically instructed him to interface with them ahead of his government. He pointed out areas where the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello has achieved considerable achievements to include; security, primary healthcare delivery, infrastructural revamping, and education, noting that other communities like Ogale and Aduge that are yet to feel the impacts of the New Direction administration would be of topmost priority when Alhaji Ododo forms his government next year.
Fancy Media Team quoted the candidate’s ally to have said; “You will all agree with me that government is a continuous process and no single administration can boast of solving all the problems of the state completely. That is why we desire consolidation and continuity of the long term development template laid down by the New Direction administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.
“I can assure you that if you all work for the success of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election, your stories will change for better. There will be appointment ward by ward if only you can convincingly deliver your ward to the APC. Alhaji Ododo will expand on the legacy projects Governor Yahaya Bello has started and Ogale/Aduge will not regret voting for the APC,” he assured.
Other speakers that promised to work for the victory of APC are Oba Michael Kolajo Otitoju, Mrs Olowo Roseline who is the Woman Leader Ogale/Aduge Ward and Hon. Ajibola Adejimoh who specifically noted that there is no single opposition party to the APC in Ogale/Aduge Ward.
