Former Senate Leader and Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has hailed the Supreme Court judgement affirming the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declaration of President Bola Ahmed Bola Tinubu as the winner of the presidential poll held on February 25, 2023.
The Apex Court on Thursday dismissed, for lack of merit, the appeals filed by ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP) challenging the victory of President Tinubu at the polls.
Justice John Inyang Okoro who read the lead judgment unanimously adopted by six other justices, upheld the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), which had affirmed the return and declaration of Tinubu as winner of the last presidential election.
Describing Tinubu’s triumph at the Supreme Court as a well-deserved victory and welcome development, Ndoma-Egba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), said the judgement has further enhanced Nigeria’s constitutional and electoral jurisprudence.
Felicitating the number-one citizen on the victory, the ex-Senate Leader, noted that the President will now have the time to concentrate on the work for which he was elected by Nigerians devoid of distractions, with all the issues raised against him by his opponents in the election having been finally resolved by the highest court of the land.
He appealed to Nigerians to give the President the necessary support to enable him deliver on his campaign promises and actualize his renewed hope agenda as he continues to formulate policies, put up programmes and initiate projects to reposition the country for the good of the citizens.
“It’s a victory long foretold. It has further enriched our constitutional and electoral jurisprudence. Mr. President can now settle down to work without any more distraction”, Ndoma-Egba remarked.
