Kogi Polls: TAF Africa Hails Turn Out of PWD, lauds INEC, security

A non governmental Organization, TAF Africa has commended the turn out of the People With Disability to exercise their franchise in Kogi state, even as the commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and security operatives for peaceful process.

Hajiya Zainab Suleiman, Trustee of TAF Africa gave the commendation while briefing Journalists on their findings as it concerns the participation of the PWD during the governorship election.

The Press Briefing was held at the situation room of TAF Africa, located, at Edge-Drive Hotel in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital on Saturday.

Hajiya Zainab Suleiman expressed delight that about 80% of persons with disability were allowed to vote.

She also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for giving priority to Persons with disability to exercise their franchise first before other electorate at polling units.

“Our task is to ensure accessible voting for Persons With Disability in Nigeria. We are also determined to ensure that PWD are accorded recognition and equal opportunity in their immediate society. The election generally is peaceful” TAF Africa Trustee disclosed.

Samuel Mark, representative of the Chairman of Joint National Association of Persons With Disability in Kogi, who also spoke at the Press conference, lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for the priority granted PWD at the various Polling Units across the state as well as security agencies that took cover for their safety to vote without difficulty or hindrance.

Mrs Eunice Agbogun, Coordinator, TAF Africa Observer, Kogi State, in her contribution, called for special attention to the Persons With Disability by the three tiers of government in Nigeria along with other well to do citizens.

She equally demanded for equal opportunity among the able and the physically challenged citizens inorder to give everyone sense of belonging.
