Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), has felicitated with the National President of the Union, Chief Chris Isiguzo,( MFR), for being one of the recipients of the Kogi State Honour Award.

A statement by the Council signed by the State Chairman, Alhaji Seidu Ademu and Secretary, Comrade Olusegun Ayindero-Oyenibi said the nomination of Chief Isiguzo, has not come as a surprise in view of his track records of impactful contributions to national growth and development, including issues affecting Kogi State.

The statement described Chief Chris Isiguzo as a man of many parts, a detribalised Nigerian, and a friend of Kogi State Council of NUJ long before his election as the National President noting that such virtues earned him the meritorious award by the State Government which is the first of its kind in Kogi State.

The Kogi State Council expressed appreciation to Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for finding the number One journalist in the country worthy of the award and equally recognizing his modest contributions, saying the honour would not have come at a time better than now.

“As a council, we will say we are grateful to His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello, whom in his wisdom, considered our National President worthy of this great honour. Let everyone take note that the honour is not only for the NUJ National President, but all working journalists in Kogi State. This again will encourage us to strengthen our partnership with the government, but not in anyway undermining our constitutional responsibilities as the fourth estate of the realm”, the statement avered.

Chief Isiguzo is among the 79 distinguished Nigerians to be conferred with the Kogi State Honour Award slated for Friday, 26th January in Lokoja the State capital.
