KGSHA House Standing Committee On Education visits CUSTECH

The Kogi State House of Assembly House Standing Committee on Education led by its Chairman, Hon. Idrees Aliyu has visited Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara

CUSTECH, Osara, said the visit was for the purpose of oversight activities on the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) within its jurisdiction.

Other legislative Members in the committee were: Hon. Ujah A. Anthony, Hon. Abu Jibril, Hon. Jacob Sam Olawumi, Hon. Bin-Ebeiya Shehu Tijani and the Clerk of the Committee, Hon. Muhammed B. Abdul.

The House Committee on Education were well received by the Management Team of CUSTECH led by the Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahaman Asipita Salawu as well as the Registrar, Ms. Olufunke Hudson, Bursar, Mr. John Alaji and the University Librarian, Mr. Jeremiah E. Salifu.

The Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Education Hon.Idrees Aliyu in his remarks made it known that Honourable Speaker of Kogi State House Assembly Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf has said many good things about the Vice Chancellor, the rest members of the Management and CUSTECH as a whole.

He went to allay any possible fears by the Management Team that they were not visiting to witch hunt the Management of the institution but that their motive is to make sure that the system works very well.

He laid emphasis on the fact that they as a Standing Committee on Education will be happy to see CUSTECH developing rapidly in physical development and waxing stronger in academics as this remains the primary aim the ivory tower was created to serve the state, Nigeria and the world at large.

Responding to the House of Assembly Standing Committee on Education, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahaman Asipita Salawu VC welcomed the team for giving the Management Team ample time to make available their demands for the all important oversight function the committee is saddled with.

The Vice Chancellor appreciated them for coming as promised and also taking their precious time to visit the site where speedy construction work on different projects is ongoing at the moment.

Hon. Jibril Abu, a Member of the visiting Standing Committee on Education added his voice to the visit as he was able to draw the attention of the Management Team of the need to start Robotics Engineering as a course at CUSTECH, Osara.

This he followed up by making a video call to one Robotics Engineering professional faraway in England, a call that was placed on speaker for all those attending the meeting to listen to. The Robotics Engineering professional has given his word to be of great assistance to CUSTECH as soon as they kick-start Robotics Engineering as a course.

The Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahaman Asipita Salawu was highly elated for this kind gesture from Hon. Abu Jibril as he sees it as an oil that has helped in lubricating a possible friction they would have come across when Robotics Engineering starts at CUSTECH.

The areas of Oversight Activities that the House Standing Committee looked at were: (i) Total Revenue Generated Between January-December 2023. (ii) Projects Embarked Upon from January-December 2023 (iii) Academic: Accredited courses and Non-Accredited Courses (iv) Human Resources.

The visit was brought to an end by a group photograph taken by the House Standing Committee on Education and the Management Team of CUSTECH, Osara.
