In January 2024, when His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo assumed office, he vowed to serve as an effective servant leader and promised to leave no stone unturned in consolidating the gains of democracy and ensuring the continuity of dividends for the people. His commitment to good governance and the welfare of the people was evident in various initiatives and policies implemented within his first 35 days in office.

One of the primary areas of focus for Governor Ododo was food security and palliatives. Recognizing the urgent need to address hunger and ensure the availability of basic necessities, he pledged to distribute palliatives on a quarterly basis. This initiative is aimed to alleviate the hardships faced by the vulnerable population and empower them to lead better lives.

Furthermore, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo expressed his commitment to supporting farmers and ensuring their prosperity. He promised to allocate land and provide subsidy on fertilizers to agricultural communities. The Kogi State joint task force under his watch recently intercepted a total of 53 stolen electricity transformers. This bold action demonstrated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and improving the power supply in the state.

Additionally, Governor Usman Ododo’s commitment to improving road infrastructure was evident through his inspection of the ongoing Obangede-Okaito-Ihima roads. These roads were strategically selected for their development to open up the area and facilitate better connectivity. The Governor’s proactiveness in this area demonstrated his dedication to creating infrastructure that would positively impact the daily lives of the people.

Furthermore, Governor Usman Ododo prioritized the welfare of both state and local government employees. His inspection of facilities at Kogi State University KSU Kabba, Confluence University of Science and Technology CUSTECH Osara, Community Secondary School Ogaminana and Nursing and Midwifery College Obangede revealed his administration’s commitment to improving education standards in the state. The Governor’s proactive approach demonstrated his understanding of the importance of quality education in preparing the next generation of leaders.
