The Former leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) under the platform of Ododo/Joel Labour Support Group have called on all workers in kogi state to work for the success of the ruling party, APC in the forthcoming governorship election.
In a meeting held with the members of State Executive council of various unions, the spokesperson of the Group, Chief Ranti Ojo appealed to workers especially the aggrieved to support one of their own, Joel Oyibo, who was the The immediate past chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT.
According to him, ” Our vote for Joel Oyibo, who is the running mate to Ahmed Usman Ododo will correct all the issue of percentage payment at the local government level and bring about changes in the civil service in kogi state, this is going to be the first time one of us will be at the echelon of power in kogi state”.
Chief Ranti Ojo appealed to all the workers in the state to mobilize workers, both at the state and local government areas, urging them to vote for the Governorship Candidate of the APC, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and Joel Oyibo in the coming election.
In his words, ” I wish to inform workers that Ododo/Joel labour support Group has met with Ododo and Oyibo, and we’ve agreed that all issues about payment of percentage salaries at the LG and other pending matters regards screening would be resolved immediately after election, he promised”.
He also urged all leaders to take all necessary steps to safeguard their votes by ensuring that the electoral process is transparent, free and fair.
He however called on all affiliate unions and State Councils of Congress to give maximum cooperation and support to the political committees of APC, to strengthen their work at the state, local government, wards and polling unit.
The spokesperson call all workers and indeed all kogites to come out en mass to perform their civic duties by voting in the forthcoming elections, and taking decisive steps to safeguard their votes.
” This is a clarion call to all workers that as we approach the final push towards the forthcoming governorship election come November, 11, 2023, we should ensure massive turnout of votes for the success of our own in NLC, Joel Oyibo, who is the running mate(deputy governorship candidate) of APC.
” This election seems to be the most decisive in our state. It offers an opportunity to transform our political, social and economic policy direction to be peoples-oriented as espoused in the Workers Charter of Demands”, he said
