A non-political group has berated the Kogi State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones for claiming sole responsibility for initiating and establishment of the Kogi State University in Kabba.

The group, Kogi West for Better Tomorrow, made this known in a press statement issued by the spokesperson of the group, Comrade Joel Adeleke.

According to Adeleke, the establishment of the University in Kogi West was a promise made by the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello during his first tenure in office.

He stressed that the governor had already made up his mind to establish the University for the good people of Kogi West because of their massive support for his administration.

According to him, the Commissioner now goes about in Kogi West, particularly in Kabba-Bunu, claiming that if not for his quick intervention governor Bello wouldn’t have established the University in Kabba.

He pointed out that because of his selfish means, the Commissioner who is privileged to serve in the administration of GYB is now looking for another appointment under the coming administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo as Secretary to the Kogi State Government (SSG).

“Wemi Jones is not accessible to the people of Kogi West and such person want to hold one of the sensitive positions as SSG in the coming administration. We beg the incoming governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to pick somebody that is more accessible to the people

“The position of SSG is the engine room of any administration and such person must always be ready to accommodate people and not to be complaining at all,” the group added.

All efforts to reach the commissioner of education, Wemi Jones proved abortive, as calls to his cell phone wasn’t connecting as at the time of filling this report.
