Former Senate Leader and ex-Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, has congratulated the Governor of Cross River State, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, on his victory at the Supreme Court.
The Apex Court on Friday dismissed, for lack of merit, the appeal of the candidate of People Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18, 2023 Cross River Guber poll, Senator Sandy Onor, challenging the electoral victory of Otu.
Ndoma-Egba, a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), described the Supreme Court verdict as a welcome development and final affirmation of the mandate freely and willingly given to Otu, fondly referred to as Sweet Prince by Cross Riverians.
He noted that with the Supreme Court judgement, all the distractions caused by the cases instituted against Otu’s victory at the polls were over, and the governor would now be able to fully concentrate on governance.
According to the legal luminary, “It (the Supreme Court ruling) was an expected end. This is the last distraction for His Excellency, Senator Bassey Otu and a victory for the people of Cross River State. He now has no excuse not to urgently deliver the infrastructural and human capital development of Cross River State to restore it as the preferred destination.”
The erstwhile Senate Leader enjoined the entire people of Cross River State to continue to give total support to Sweet Prince, as he determinedly pursue the actualization of his People-First agenda in the interest of the state.
Ndoma-Egba expressed optimism that with Otu in the helms of affairs of the state, there are obviously better days ahead for Cross Riverians.
