Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Hon. Abdullahi Bello has expressed confidence that his party would win next month’s governorship election decisively, describing it as a “walkover” for the party.
Hon. Bello, also known as Dollar, made this known in a meeting with the entire executives of the party drawn from both the state and across the 21 local government areas.
The party chairman who hinted that the aim of the meeting was to brief the party’s governorship candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on their level of preparedness, also assured him that the party structure in their various localities were fully ready.
“This election is a walkover for our party. By the grace of God, we shall be victorious. Our party structure across the 21 LGAs and stakeholders are fully prepared and ready to go into this election and deliver the usual victory. We are closer to the people and structures in the various communities have very active to ensure easy victory,” he said.
Hon. Bello urged all party supporters and stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully and not relent in their efforts to comb every corner of their respective local government areas in order to deliver overwhelmingly.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Ozigi Deedat, expressed hope in the candidacy of Ododo to be able to credibly justify the trust reposed in him to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello when voted into power.
Barr. Deedat said, “Ododo is a man of the system and he is trustworthy. He is familiar with the system and will lead with fairness to all, as entrenched by the New Direction Administration.”
The Commissioner, who called for unity, enjoined the party supporters especially at the local government areas not to relent in their quest to ensure victory is delivered in the coming days to the party.
There were goodwill messages from the Okene Local Party Chairman, the State Woman Leader, and the State Youth Leader who spoke respectively on their determination to sustain their focus to ensure the party’s victory.
Other party stakeholders at the ward level reiterated their commitments in mobilising eligible voters for the governing All Progressives Congress. While assuring the party candidate of bulk votes they emphasised that politics is local, hence their commitments in the remote area are not compromising.
In his response, the APC gubernatorial candidate expressed gratitude to the entire party structure and promised to work twice as hard to ensure areas of the government that need to be strengthened and improved upon are not neglected when he assumes office.
“I have been a part of the system, I know where we have done well, and where needs to be strengthened; we are going to get it right this time when I become the governor of the state,” he assured.
The party chairman, who had earlier intimated the candidate on areas where their office needs intervention, had their needs met on the spot, as there were donations of air conditioners, approval of borehole installation, a transformer which will be connected to 33KVA, and a public address system among others.
